Top 7 Best Laptops For Realtors & Real Estate Agents of 2019

1. Microsoft Surface Book 2

Microsoft Surface Book 2

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is a convertible/2-in-1 laptop that’s different from most convertibles. In the sense that, you’re able to detach the display from the keyboard.
In addition to that, 2 batteries can be found in it. One in the display and also the other in the keyboard. This gives the Microsoft Surface Book 2 crazy battery life especially once the display and keyboard are connected together. It’s able to last for more than half on a daily basis once both components are attached.
The display is also impressive. A vibrant PixelSense display (3240 x 2160) that is bright and has nice viewing angles. On top of that, the color accuracy and reproduction are good which in turn produces crisp and sharp images.
The Microsoft Surface Book 2 employs the use of 8th gen Intel Core i5 and 8GB RAM. The processor is nice and it’s a quad-core. Additionally, to its 256GB SSD, you’ll get a snappy laptop that boots up quickly.
Even with all its advantages, the convertible laptop isn’t excellent. It is expensive. And for a laptop at its price, there should be a Thunderbolt 3 port that it lacks. The Microsoft Surface Book 2 is additionally hard to repair or upgrade if something goes wrong. You have to make sure you get a warranty on it.
Even with its hard-to-repair characteristic. Theirs isn’t any denying the flexibility the Microsoft Surface Book 2 gives you. You’ll simply swap between a tablet and a laptop.
The best thing is that being able to detach the display makes it a real tablet. Not like other 2-in-1 laptops where you have to turn it 360 degrees.

ASUS C201

Don’t have the budget of $500, $400 or even $300?
No Problem. The Asus C201 is here for you which prices less than $350.
The Asus C201 isn’t a regular laptop with Windows or Mac OS. It’s actually a Chromebook that runs on Chrome OS.
If you aren’t familiar with a Chromebook or Chrome OS, I suggest you watch this quick video to know what a Chromebook actually is. In short, Chromebook is supposed to browse the web, watch videos and use Google apps. You can’t install common software like MS office on a Chromebook.
Usually, Chromebook is meant for students however I’m suggesting this laptop for a real estate agent because not everyone needs to spend lots of money just to browse the web.
The laptop is made of plastic but it feels durable and well made. It has 11.6 inch TN panel that has good color reproduction but poor viewing angles though.
This laptop has 16GB SSD storage which cannot be enough for lots of people but usually, a Chromebook doesn’t include larger storage. It comes with 4GB DDR3 RAM that is sufficient to run most of the apps smoothly.
Another unique factor about the laptop is, it comes with Rockchip RK3288 processor rather than any Intel processors. This Rockchip processor is made particularly for tablet devices but it also works very fast in this Chromebook too.
A laptop that depends mostly on an internet connection comes with 802.11ac Wireless connectivity. It works perfectly fine and you won’t have to face any drops in your network connectivity.
Just like the above Surface pro, the Asus C201 is portable and weighs only two pounds. If you’re a realtor who travels lots to meet with clients and show them your data from your laptop, then this Chromebook is a sensible option for you.
The keyboard and trackpad are good. There’s nothing to complain about. The speakers on the bottom of the laptop don’t get terribly loud. This could be concerning thing for some people out there.
One of the nice things about this laptop is its superb battery life. You’ll expect a minimum of 10 hours of battery life on Asus C201 that is extraordinary for a laptop which less than $300. However, keep in that this is a Chromebook not a Windows or Mac OS laptop.

Apple MacBook Pro

If you have a budget between $1000-$1500 and you’re used to Apple products like iPad, iPhone, etc then there’s no you shouldn’t buy this lovely and powerful machine for your real estate business.
This is a multi-purpose laptop which might be used for your work, entertainment or any other type of work except HD gaming. But gaming, you can push this laptop to any level and it’ll perform fine.
The MacBook Pro comes with stunning 13.3-inch retina display and you’ll be stunned by the display quality of this laptop. The viewing angles are wonderful and the color reproduction is top-notch. Without any doubt, this can be one of the best display you’ll get your hands on without delay.
The model that I’m talking costs around $1400 which comes with touch-bar. There are few other models available on Amazon that doesn’t include touch-bar. It could price you less but a touch bar could be a nice feature to have on a MacBook Pro. By using the touch bar, you can unlock the laptop, use Apple Pay and lots more.
It comes with 256GB SSD and 8GB DDR3 RAM. The processor within the laptop you’ll find is dual-core Intel Core i5. Rather like I said before, you don’t must worry about the performance of this powerful machine because it’ll be manner faster than what you’d expect.
The Geekbench score for a single core of the laptop is 3849 and therefore the multi-core score is 7272. If you’re a Windows user and thinking to get this laptop, don’t hesitate too much because you’ll really enjoy the sleek performance of Mac OS.
There are 4 Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C) has offered on this laptop however there are few important missing like mini display port and SD card reader. This is a big disappoint by Apple I might say.
The battery life on the laptop is pretty superb I might say. From light-weight to moderate usage, you can expect around 8-9 hours and heavy users can expect around 2-3 hours of battery life.
Even though, the MacBook Pro is quite expensive it’s one of the best laptops for realtor can buy right now.

4. Microsoft Surface Pro 4

Microsoft Surface Pro 4

The Microsoft Surface Pro is a perfect choice for a realtor that is light-weight, compact and powerful. Let’s talk about well why this is such a good laptop for a realtor/ real estate agent.
This is a 2-in-1 touchscreen laptop which means you'll either use it as a tablet or a laptop as per your situation. The body of the laptop is made of magnesium casing and it very feels premium.
It comes with 12.3 PixelSense display with the resolution of 2736 x1824. The PPI of the display is 267. The display is nice to browse and take regular notes but it isn’t the most effective display to watch videos. If you're getting a laptop for both work and entertainment (watching videos), then this could not the right choice for you.
Microsoft has offered a kickstand on the back so you'll view the display from any angle. If you're using the Surface Pro in outdoors discussing with a client, then you'll quickly show notes or take notes by quickly opening the kickstand.
One of the thing that I personally didn’t like about this device is, you wish to buy a typeover separately. The device itself costs around $1000 and also the type cover costs nearly $100 that makes the total costs of the laptop $1100. Each the keyboard and glass trackpad works exceptionally well but you must think twice about your budget before buying this device.
The included Pen in the Surface Pro works fine and if you're into drawing, then it’ll be an extremely helpful tool for you. Do note that the Surface Pro doesn’t offer pen in their latest models and you need to shop for it separately rather like the type cover. That’s the reason I’m recommending the Surface Pro 4 that comes with Pen.
When it comes to storage, it's 256GB SSD together with 8GB RAM. The processor within this device is 6th gen Intel Core i5. The laptop performs nice and also the multitasking on this device isn't a big deal at all. You can use Google Chrome, Photoshop, and multiple software at once with none issues.
The read speed of the laptop is 608 MB whereas the write speed is 113 MB. Other than general usage, you can play some casual games at a decent frame rate.
And finally, Battery life.
If you're a light-weight user who doesn’t play games, then you'll simply expect 5-6 hours of battery life on a single charge. If you a heavy user who plays games and uses heavy software, then you'll expect around 2 hours of battery life.

Specifications
  • Screen Size: 12.3 Inches.
  • Storage:  256GB SSD.
  • RAM: 8GB RAM.
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 6th Gen
  • Graphics card: Intel HD graphics
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
  • Weight: 1.7 lbs.

PROS

  • Extremly lightweight.
  • Top-notch performance.
  • decent battery life.

CONS

  • Expensive for some people.

5. Dell XPS 15 Touch

 Dell XPS 15 Touch

If you don’t care lots about the budget and need only the best laptop out there, the Dell XPS 15 might be your next laptop.
Not only for a realtor, but this laptop is also perfectly suitable for almost everybody including a hardcore gamer and I’ll tell why.
The XPS 15 comes lovely infinity display and it's fewer bezels around the top and corner of the display that makes the laptop engaging and unique. This is one of the few laptops on the market that has few bezels in their displays.
Here I’m suggesting a 4k touchscreen variant because a real estate agent will quickly show the objects or materials to the client or buyer instead of using a trackpad. There's also a non-touch version of this laptop available on Amazon. You can go for that if you don’t need a touchscreen laptop.
The storage on this machine is 512GB SSD, 16GB DDR4 RAM with Intel Core i7-7700HQ. The SSD that comes with this laptop is Samsung PM961 which perform very smoothly and boots up the system very quickly.
When it involves gaming, this laptop comes with GTX 1050 4GB RAM that is an upgrade from GTX 960m GPU. You'll nearly play any game at good frame rates without lowering the resolution.
Here the frame rates of three popular games,

  1. Fallout 4= 55 FPS (High settings)
  2. GTA 5= 60-70 FPS (High settings)
  3. Gears of war 4= 60 FPS (Medium settings)

The major concern regarding this laptop is, it gets too noisy whereas playing some high demanding games. thus keep this in mind.

 Dell XPS 15 Touch

Compared to other laptops on this list, the XPS 15 is slightly heavy. It weighs 3.9 pounds (1.7 kg). This is often still a reasonably portable laptop in my opinion.
There are two USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C (Thunderbolt), HDMI and full-size SD card reader offered on this laptop that is a good port choice I would say. The keyboard on this laptop has backlit which can be helpful whereas using the laptop in the night.
The battery life of 6 hours for a powerful laptop like this is excellent I would say. If you decide for non-touch version, you’ll surely get 2-3 hours more battery life.

Specifications
  • Screen Size: 15.6 Inches.
  • Storage: 512GB SSD.
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 RAM.
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-7700HQ.
  • Graphics card: GTX 1050 4GB (Dedicated)
  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home.
  • Weight:  3.9 lbs.

  • Infinity display.
  • Capable of performing hardcore tasks.
  • Excellent build quality.

CONS

  • Slightly heavy.

6. ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH55

 ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH55

The last laptop on this list is an ultrabook from Asus called ZenBook UX330UA-AH55.
This is an upgraded version of the Zenbook UX330UA-AH54 with Intel’s new 8th gen i5-8250U. I have to mention this is one of the best ultrabooks anyone can buy under $800.
It weighs only 2.6 pounds (1.18 kg) and easy to hold without any bag. I know there are lots of wonderful light-weight laptops on this list here but this is the most affordable one among them.
The display is 13.3 inches FHD panel and therefore the brightness of the display is reasonably well but the viewing angles aren’t so nice. you'll not be able to see the objects of the display clearly in outdoors.
The performance on this machine is nice and it comes with 8GB DRR3 RAM that isn’t upgradeable just like the above hp Spectre. but you'll upgrade the M.2 SATA SSD if the 256GB isn’t good enough for you. The read and write speed of the SSD of this machine is 530 and 504 respectively that isn’t bad at all I might say.
There are two USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C, full-size SD card slot and mini-HDMI offered on this laptop. there's also a fingerprint scanner offered in the corner of the trackpad that is accurate and works pretty fine. The keyboard of this laptop has three levels of brightness in the backlit.
Apart from light-weight and performance, the main highlight of this laptop is its Battery life. The Zenbook will last up to 12 hours with a single charge. Yes, you read it. this can be the best laptop on this list in terms of Battery life. If your top preference is the battery life, then you should definitely go for this wonderful laptop.

Specifications
  • Screen Size: 15.6 Inches.
  • Storage: 512GB SSD.
  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 RAM.

  • Operating System: Windows 10 Home.
  • Weight:  3.9 lbs.

PROS

  • Infinity display.
  • Capable of performing hardcore tasks.
  • Excellent build quality.

CONS

  • Slightly heavy.

Laptop buying Guide for Real Estate Agents and Realtors:

There are thousands of laptops available in the market and it's pretty hard to read the specs and select a laptop by yourself. That’s why I have created a short list of important specs each real estate agent should look before shopping for any laptop.
1. Portability: No matter what, the majority of the real estate agents are spending their time by traveling, visiting coffee shops for a meeting, etc and that’s why portability should be the top priority of each real estate agent. Aside from the Dell XPS 15, every laptop on this list is pretty much light-weight and you can choose any of them.
2. Battery life: If you're using the laptop inside, you'll plug-in the charger anytime once the battery goes down but what about using the laptop whereas traveling or any other outdoor spots? You need to buy a laptop that should last at least 5 hours and each laptop on this list has more than 5 hours of battery life.
3. Storage/ RAM/ CPU: A realtor will easily do his/ her job with a 256GB storage. But If you're obtaining it for both professional and personal functions, you can choose either 512GB or 1TB storage. Remember, you should buy only SSD storage kind laptops and not HDD. I won’t recommend laptops with HDD for any realtors out there.
Although I have recommended 16GB laptops here, an 8GB laptop would be enough for several basic users. If you are a power user who does video/image editing kind of stuff, then I might recommend the 16GB laptops. Don’t go below 8GB because you will face some performance issue whereas doing some important tasks.
You can go for Intel’s Core i5 processor if you wish only good performance like browsing, MS office, etc. If you're doing even more powerful tasks, then you must definitely go for a core i7 laptop that I have mentioned above. Don’t select any core i3 processor laptop unless you're ready to face any performance issues.
4. Screen Size: A 13-inch laptop would be fine for agents who are totally on the go. If you think 13-inch is slightly huge for you, then you can select 12-inch laptops like Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. I won’t recommend a 17-inch laptop for a profession like realtors.

Conclusion:

A powerful tool like a laptop can be very useful for any real estate agents out there and you must invest your money wisely before getting it for yourself.
If you have landed here on the search for the best laptops for realtors or real estate agents, then I’m pretty sure you may realize your excellent choice till now. What does one think of these 7 laptops? Do have a suggestion to add here? Do let me know in the comments sections.
